One of our users has provided some information on this photograph. Jack Halliday on left was the son of John James Halliday of Gashouse, Thornhill. The photo was taken at Gashouse road end. Jack was the first soldier from Thornhill killed 1941/WW2. He is buried in Karachi war cemetery. The other man is John Marchbank one of three brothers who operated a coal merchants business in Thornhill. The dogs name was Gyp and I think the car was a Singer
